Description

A gourmet twist on traditional candy apples featuring a dark chocolate shell infused with fresh orange zest and a tart Granny Smith apple center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 12 oz high-quality dark chocolate (60% cocoa or higher), chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 6 wooden popsicle sticks
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and scrub the skin to remove wax. Dry them completely.
  2. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing it toward the core.
  3. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil together using a double boiler over low heat until smooth.
  4. Stir the fresh orange zest into the melted chocolate until evenly distributed.
  5. Dip each apple into the chocolate, rotating it to ensure full coverage, and let excess drip off.
  6. Place the apples on parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes until the shell is firm.
  7. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt over the top of each apple immediately before the chocolate fully sets.
