Description

Golden-brown Belgian waffles with a light, airy interior topped with warm, sautéed cinnamon apples and a maple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. Preheat your Belgian waffle iron. Once hot, pour in batter and cook until the steam stops escaping and waffles are golden brown.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  6. Add sliced apples and ground cinnamon to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender and golden.
  7. Stir in the maple syrup and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the apples are glazed.
  8. Top hot waffles with the cinnamon apple mixture and serve immediately.
