Description

A rich and savory pulled pork infused with the fruity sweetness of cherry cola. Slow-cooked to tender perfection with a glossy, caramelized BBQ glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lb pork shoulder (Boston butt), trimmed
  • 1 can (12 oz) cherry cola
  • 1 cup favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder generously with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork for 3-5 minutes per side until browned.
  3. Remove pork from the pan and sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for 3 minutes until softened.
  4. Transfer the seared pork and sautéed aromatics into the slow cooker.
  5. Pour the cherry cola and BBQ sauce over the meat. Stir in the smoked paprika and apple cider vinegar.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours until the meat is tender and easily pulls apart.
  7. Remove the pork to a cutting board and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  8. Shred the pork using two forks, removing any large pieces of excess fat.
  9. Return the shredded meat to the slow cooker and toss with the remaining juices until fully glazed.
