Description

A whole roasted turkey stuffed with savory bread stuffing and coated in a rich garlic-herb compound butter for a golden, juicy finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12–14 lb whole turkey, thawed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 6 cups bread stuffing (prepared)
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove giblets and pat the turkey completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix softened butter, minced garlic, sage, rosemary, thyme, 1 tablespoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Carefully separate the skin from the breast meat and spread half of the garlic butter underneath the skin.
  5. Rub the remaining garlic butter over the entire outside of the turkey skin.
  6. Season the interior cavity with salt and pepper, then fill it with the prepared stuffing, onion, carrots, and celery.
  7. Place the turkey on a V-rack in a roasting pan.
  8. Roast until a meat thermometer reads 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the breast and the center of the stuffing.
  9. Remove from oven and let the turkey rest for 30-45 minutes before carving.
