Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on the baking sheet about two inches apart.
  5. Press your thumb or spoon into the center of each ball to create an indentation.
  6. Fill each thumbprint with jam and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
