  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 1 pack candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. Stir together melted butter and granulated sugar in a medium bowl.
  3. Whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt, folding gently with a spatula until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan for at least one hour.
  7. Beat powdered sugar, softened butter, and milk together, then stir in green food coloring.
  8. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  9. Press candy eyes and other festive toppings into the frosting to create monster faces.
  10. Cut into 16 squares and serve.
